Protection against Date Rape Drugs

Drug Abuse and Addiction

Any female who finds herself in any social situation (other than those involving friends who are well known and entirely trusted) can fall victim to date rape. If this is an issue you're concerned about, use the following measures to protect yourself:

1. Never leave your drink unattended and then come back to it

2. Don't accept drinks from strangers

3. Open bottles or cans of drink yourself

4. Never drink from punch bowls as they already may have drugs in them

5. Always take your drink directly from the bartender

6. If possible always drink from a bottle - it's harder to drop a drug into a bottle than a glass

7. If you feel drunk after just one alcoholic drink seek help from a friend

8. Don't go to bars and clubs by yourself - always go with a trusted friend

9. If possible always have one designated non drinker when you go out

10. Never share someone's drink.

In North America you can buy a simple and inexpensive test kit which can detect date rape drugs in your drink. Drink Safe Technologies have invented a discreet pack of testing strips which change colour when dipped into a drink containing certain drugs. The company was founded by Francisco Guerra after a female friend fell victim to date rape. To find out more visit www.drinksafetech.com
